Pretty much anyone can sell an outboard. The key to long term owner satisfaction is proper set-up, rigging ( does your dealer actually sea trial your boat? – WE DO) and after-sale service. Many customers are unaware that the modern EFI 4 stroke outboard needs to be properly tested as a warranty requirement and these details need to be recorded on the PDI form. Proper testing includes load testing at WOT (wide open throttle ) while hooked up to a fuel vaccum gauge as well as a laptop loaded with Yamaha’s test software. This procedure CANNOT be done in a shop – it can only be done on the boat, in the water.
